In the very first chapter of the Bible, we are introduced to something profound: who God is in His nature, and who we are in ours. And it sets the tone for everything else we read in Scripture, and everything we do in life.
In Genesis 1, we find five key truths. But today, we’ll focus on just one. It is this: God is the ultimate Creator. And we, made in His image, are also created to create.
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth (v.1). Now the earth was without shape and empty... (v.2). God said, ‘Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky...’ (v.14). He made the stars also. God saw that it was good (v.16).” (Genesis 1:1–2, 14, 16)
The Bible opens with a burst of power – power, energy, strength displayed in breathtaking creation – in what was created and the way it was created. God’s mind-blowing creative power is on full display.
We, humans, have created a lot over the years. Art, technology, infrastructure, and now, even intelligence! But when we stand back and look at what God created in Genesis 1, our achievements pale in comparison to God’s creation.
In Isaiah 45, God tells the prophet, "I made the earth. My own hands stretched out the skies. I have directed the starry constellations in their place." Scientists say there are more stars than the seven quintillion – 1 followed by 18 zeros – grains of sand we have on Earth. One septillion stars – 1 followed by 24 zeros!
And each of these stars was mapped and placed exactly where it should be by God – and named by our God! Our city planning, or the national and global infrastructure setup, is nothing in comparison to God’s architecture.
And it doesn't stop there. In our world, there are 8.5 million species of beetles! Eight and a half million ways that tell us of God’s creative power!
And then there’s us. According to the Population Research Bureau, over 117 billion people have lived on this earth. And yet, not one person is like another. Each of us has a unique voice print, fingerprints, iris patterns – our very DNA is custom-stamped. God’s creativity in action, every second, a child is born.
Never Forget These Two Truths
You are one in 117 billion.
You are not random. You were custom-designed by God. You are deeply known.
You were made in the image of the Creator.
God says He made us in His image (v.27). God created you to reflect your Creator. That means you were made to create.
Imitate God. Use your creativity at work.
Four Ways to Use Your Creative Power at Work
Decide to Create
Genesis 1:1 begins with God making a decision. "In the beginning, God created..." That beginning didn’t just mark time. It shows intention. God decided to create.
We are made in God’s image. Every project, every process, every new idea starts with an intention and a decision. A choice to build, explore, or try.
Let the drive to create come from within. Whether you're building a brand, designing a new process, planning a campaign, or solving a team problem, decide to show up with creativity.God has resourced us not to invent in a vacuum, but to create by blending and building on what already exists.
Create What is Good
In Genesis 1, we read a recurring phrase: "God saw that it was good." The Hebrew word here is tobe. It means something pleasant, excellent, valuable, beautiful, successful, and ethically right. That’s what you were made to create.
At work, ask yourself:
Will this bring beauty or joy to my team or customers?
Will this add value?
Is it ethically sound?
Paul echoes this in Ephesians 2:10, "For we are God’s masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus to do good works..."
Persevere in the Creative Process
God didn’t stop after day one. He kept creating until what God planned to create was complete. And that’s the pattern we see again and again in Scripture. God works until the work is whole. Complete. Not rushed. Not half-finished. Not more and more. But full.
We are not God. Our work is not perfect, and often we need retakes. But we can reflect God and keep working, refining, until we complete the work God has given us to do.
Don’t give up because it’s hard. Keep showing up. Keep building. You are part of something good.
Create when Faced with Limitations
There are times when we’re stretched thin, and we’re in survival mode! But your creative capacity is not limited by your circumstances. In fact, limitations can bring out the very best creative ideas. It did for Mick Jagger!
Back when the Rolling Stones were starting out, they played at tiny clubs. Small stage. Cramped setup. Crowded. Jagger often had no space to move. Sometimes it felt like he was standing on a small dining table.
But Jagger wanted his performance to be fun and memorable. So he created his moves. In that small space, he created something that connected with people. And now, decades later, those moves are iconic.
Limitations didn’t shrink creativity. On the other hand, they can sharpen it. So if you feel boxed in at work, don’t wait for perfect conditions. Start creating within the box.
And when you feel stuck, ask God. He knows how to help you harness your creativity.
Work becomes more than a job Creating with extreme limitations might not be easy. But when you walk it to do good things, your work takes on a new meaning… and when you walk it with God, He gives you strength, power, and support you never saw coming. Work becomes more than a job. It becomes joy.
To recap, go to work with this in mind:
You are made in the image of the Creator.
You are one in 117 billion. You are not here by accident.
You are a creator, called to bring beauty, value, and excellence to your work.
You have limitless creativity – nothing can stop you from being creative.
I wish you the best, a loving and happy, work culture and work-life!

I truly enjoyed reading through this article and can't stop going over it and again. This work (write-up) reflects the call to live the bible in our everyday lives and creat positive acts and problem solving methods to make this world a better place. And with God being referenced/centered in everything one does, it'll come to succession. 🙏🏻
